The things which sell in INDIA are Cricket, bollywood and to a certain extent politics in the same order(Ofcourse there r a few exceptions like Sania Mirza whom I don’t wanna touch). There is no point in thinking beyond these three to write a few words on this day of launchin of the masthmysore website.
Is there a lack of talented actors, technicians and Music directors in Mysore?
I am not an ardent follower of bollywood. But I know of people who follow it closely. Even they can’t come up with a name of a Mysorean bollywoodian. The only silver lining is Raghu Dixit. Raghu Dixit was not very happy with Mysoreans for making him wait for all these years to perform in a place where he belongs to. He made this statement during the Yuva dasara 2009. Mysoreans didn’t take the statement nicely, they refused to cheer him and dance to his tunes. Let’s not discuss the incident now. But what remains a fact is that there is no platform for talented Mysoreans to showcase their talent.
Kochi will have a IPL team from next season. Why couldn’t Mysore bid for it..?? Didn’t Mysore have money..?? There are many rich persons from mysore who could have formed an association and easily outbid Rendezvous Sports group. The problem is that we didn't have a galvanising force like Dr. Shashi Tharoor. Could Javagal Srinath have done a Tharoor act.? (Javagal Srinath, former Indian cricketer , hails from Mysore. He bowled above 150kmph in his prime touching 156kmph more than once)
No mysorean made it to the national level politics. Mysoreans are well educated, but still the turnout in the last assembly polls was 54%. Uneducated and under-educated people always vote(Reasons might be anything). It’s the so called educated who abstain from voting and then talk about the politics of our country. The educated are contributing towards the filthiness of our political system. The educated should take a leaf from the books of the uneducated and vote in numbers.
If one can’t make it big in any three of the things which sell, sit back and enjoy living in Mysore. But once in a while, voting doesn’t take away anything from the cosiness of living a life in one of the most beautiful cities of our country.
